Dharmesh Vyas, MD, PhD, is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center, as well as sports medicine fellowships at UPMC, Klinikum Rechts Der Isar in Munich, Germany, and Centre Albert Trillat in Lyon, France. Dr. Vyas is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a subspecialty certification in sports medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Vyas is the head team physician for the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL team and has been recognized by Best Doctors, Inc. on the Best Doctors in America® 2015-2016 list in Pittsburgh Magazine. He is also a consulting orthopaedic surgeon for Duquesne University and Carnegie Mellon University. He specializes in the care of young and experienced athletes, and trains residents and fellows in sports medicine. Dr. Vyas has extensive experience with treatment of shoulder (rotator cuff, labrum, instability, and arthritis), knee (ACL, PCL, meniscus, patella instability, osteotomy), and hip injuries (impingement/FAI, labrum, instability).
