Gysella Muniz, MD, is an Assistant Professor of clinical pediatrics in the Pediatric Department of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in Pittsburgh PA.

With a special interest in Global Health, Dr Muniz is also the Chair of the Remote Village Project Committee, a branch of the Virginia Medical Brigade, an NGO that has been working in central Honduras for more than 13 years.

She is a cum-laude graduate of the Universidad San Martin de Porres in Lima - Peru. Dr Muniz did her internship, residency and chief residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC.

Dr. Muniz has been deeply involved in various aspects related to the care of immigrants, indigenous people and the poor, both locally and internationally: from direct patient-care, to teaching and research. Her;global health interests are related to development projects like water, sanitation and hygiene, indoor smoke pollution and community health care workers training.

Clinically, Dr. Muniz is engaged in outpatient care and clinical research focused on the diagnosis and management of common pediatric infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, and urinary tract infections.
